CARROTS growing in a field, From sowing to harvesting, first earlies, second earlies late season carrots.at Brow Farm for the wholesale and retail markets. Carrots growing in the fields. From sowing, weed and pest control to harvesting for washing and grading. (First early carrots, early carrots, second early carrots, winter carrots ) Summer carrots are sown with 3 sower units on a 72 ins butt. Each unit sows 3 rows of seed. The rows on each unit are 2 ins apart. The seed rate varies as the season goes on. For earlies less seed is sown. Which gives the carrots more room to grow so they will mature faster. As the season goes on seed is sown thicker has the carrot as more time to grow when we are not trying to get an early crop. You can see the blue carrot seed in the picture. Each seed is 1.4 ins apart.
