Cröllwitzer, Pied, Black-laced White or Royal Palm Turkeys

The Cröllwitzer, Pied, Black-laced White Turkey is a breed of domestic turkey. One of the few turkeys not primarily selected for meat production and in some cases is used has a show bird, with it’s own classes at poultry shows. The Cröllwitzer is best known as an ornamental bird with a unique appearance, largely white with bands of metallic black. Primarily kept as an exhibition bird, or on small farms for it’s fuller flavored meat, it lacks the size for large scale commercial use. Toms usually weigh 16 to 22 lbs and the hens 10 to 12 lbs.

In the USA they have a turkey with similar coloration it is called the Royal Palm Turkey. It first first appeared in the 1920s on a farm in Florida, apparently as a cross between Black, Bronze, Narragansett, and native turkeys. Years of selective breeding followed to stabilize the coloring, and the Royal Palm was finally accepted as it’s own breed in the early 70’s in the USA.

The toms are noted for being non-aggressive and very vocal when hearing any new sounds near them. The hens are particularly good mothers.

I’m interested in owning a crollwitzer turkey stag. My friend had one as a pet and he just loved attention.
Finally when he passed away he weighed about 52 pounds.
He always reminded me of a lovely Spanish dancer. Anyway I’ve looked around turkeys for sale and they always look in a state, I’m interested in having one just to enjoy but look fantastic at the same time. I love birds and his turkey would always make a noise and show off for me. So this is the type I’m looking for something beautiful with character.
